No matter who you vote for for President, go out, vote, and make your voice heard!
Are you discouraged about the election right now? Are you just wishing it would all be over? Are you wondering which of the “lesser of two evils” to vote for?
I just read that this election has made Americans so unhappy, that “election stress disorder” is actually a thing. This election is literally sucking the life out of us.
It doesn’t help that we have two of the most unpopular, presidential candidates running against each other. What are the odds, right?
You know, I was so excited to vote in this year’s election. I just became an American citizen a few years ago. and this would be my first time voting in presidential election. I was born in China, grew up in New Zealand, before having the privilege to move here. That’s why you’re seeing an Asian, with a Kiwi accent, talking about American politics right now.
So, since I moved here I have grown to love America as my new home. And appreciate how blessed by God this country is.
But my excitement to vote has basically evaporated after 18 months of this election. With two candidates, an entertainer and a corrupt politician who are both unfit for office, it seems like this election has just gotten worse and worse.
I understand if you don’t want to support Hillary or Trump. I know how you feel.
So at this point, you may be tempted to just want to check out and stay home. And perhaps you may even feel justified. I know exactly how you feel.
As much as I’ve heard leaders I trust say we have got to vote for Trump to stop the corrupt, socialist, Hillary. And yes, she is a corrupt socialist. We don’t see it as a binary choice. It is not an easy one or the other decision.
If they do, that’s fine, I understand the argument about the Supreme Court. and the threat to religious freedom, and how bad Hillary is. I even made a video about how bad she is. We just see it differently. And I think there is room here for believers to disagree on this. It is not an matter of salvation.
So if you don’t like either candidate, what should you do? Should you just stay home?
No, I repeat, no.
The worse thing we can do right now is to check out. Even if that’s what we feel like doing. We must all still go out and vote.
The presidential election is not the only election we are voting in on November 8th. The down-ballot elections are just as important. They will decide who wins the House and the Senate. There are also state and local elections that affect you directly.
We still have a chance to save Congress and impact our local government. Conservative candidates down the ballot are counting on us to vote them in. For the sake of those candidates, vote November 8th.
Don’t let Hillary or Trump stop you from exercising your right to vote. Look, if we don’t participate in our elections, we don’t exist to our politicians. Our values will not be represented on the state, local, or federal level.
Now, if you can’t vote for “the lesser of two evils.” Guess what? You can send a message to Washington by voting for a Third party presidential candidate. Statistically, your vote will count. Your vote is never wasted if you vote for someone you believe in. Just vote for someone who’s actually running.
Candidates like Evan McMullin or Darrell Castle are possible alternatives. They also stand for the values that we care about – like religious freedom, protecting the lives of the unborn, and limited government.
But whoever you decide to vote for for President, go out, vote, and make your voice heard. Don’t stay home. We must all step up and do all we can to make a difference, no matter how small we think it is.
So I’ll just end here with Romans 14:22, which says. “The faith which you have, have as your own conviction before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves.”
So, prayerfully consider the candidates and vote your conscience.
But no matter what, God bless you. and God bless this great country of America that we call home.
